Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the global leader in providing payments solutions for small, medium and large businesses. The Operational Excellence (OE) team aims to ensure that GCS has a robust first line of defense, playing an active role in supporting the growth of business, meet its objectives and demonstrating an effective control framework.

Reporting into the Director, GCS Operational Excellence-Governance, this position will collaborate with our GCS colleagues, Compliance, and other control SMEs governing New Products and Capabilities and Change Management and ensure requirements are implemented in a controlled and compliant manner.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Execute Operational Excellence Governance processes through:

New Product Governance (NPG) Process – Enable new commercial product growth while reducing risk through execution New Product Governance (NPG) process and lifecycle, including post-implementation review and tracking
Change Management Process – Assess significant changes to GCS products, services or processes that fall outside of NPG through design review and enhancing our controls and control environment
Reporting- Working with large, complex sets of data to manage and accurately report on volume, deliverables and ad hoc requests
Working closely with Business Product teams to understand the products and processes and introduce the Amex risk/NPG framework
Working closely with key stakeholder partners (including compliance, legal, privacy, information security, technology, fraud, credit risk, and American Express National Bank) to implement risk governance in accordance with company policy and procedures
Ensuring that GCS Operational Excellence is a trusted partner to the GCS business in supporting them meeting their expectations, and in doing so, operates efficiently using centers of excellence where applicable, but also ensuring strong business focus and presence
Required Qualifications:

2-4 years experience in Operational Risk, Operational Excellence, Compliance, Internal Control or a related subject area.
Experience in business process improvement, risk assessment, control design and development of control & process testing.
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage complex tasks
High attention to detail and organization
Capable of analyzing and combining large complaint datasets
Strong, clear, and concise communication skills, including technical writing skills and analysis reporting.
Experience with Jira and Project Management (SCRUM, Agile)
Ability to build strategic partnerships with key collaborators
Strong team player, and self-motivation with the ability to handle multiple work streams under tie constraints and across geographical locations and ad-hoc tasks simultaneously
Bachelor’s Degree required
Preferred Qualifications:

Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey clear insight and thought leadership
Strong analytical capabilities
Ability to generate effective insights through data visualization and analysis using Access, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
Experience using AI, ML, Coding skills including Python
Demonstrated understanding of banking and commercial business processes
High level of curiosity and ability to ask the “right” questions
Experience with regulators or regulated entities as well as internal and external auditors is a plus
